Salads tend to be a popular choice for lunches or dinners for me during the summer months. Fresh veggies, lettuce and some protein and you’ve got a perfect meal. This is probably why Cool Greens is such a popular destination for me this time of year.

Cool Greens offers a variety of soups, salads, pizzas and wraps that are made fresh to order and extremely delicious. To ensure freshness, all of the soups, dressings and proteins used by each CoolGreens store are prepared at a centrally located kitchen in OKC and delivered to the stores daily. For those vegans and foodies that must avoid gluten, CoolGreens has got you covered there too.

My favorite salad is the Chipotle Chicken Ranch salad (pictured. Btw, all salads can be ordered as a wrap if you prefer) which comes with romaine, seasoned chicken, corn, red bell peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, blue corn tortilla chips, monterey jack cheese, smoky chipotle ranch. The ranch has a kick to it- so be prepared!  I also enjoy the caprese salad and margarita pizza (in the summer, who can beat fresh tomatoes, cheese and basil?!) which are perfect light summertime dishes. Best thing about their salads? Not one of the house created salads exceeds 600 calories. Hello healthy eater :)

Chipotle Chicken Ranch

If you don’t see anything that tickles your fancy, no sweat. For a mere $9, you can create your own custom masterpiece, including your choice of lettuces, up to five toppings (from more than 30 options), along with a protein and your favorite dressing. Also available are the fresh combos which allow you to choose soup & salad, soup & wrap or soup & pizza for $10. Soup options are numbered and vary daily – with popular choices of white chicken chili and curry corn chowder, red chicken pozole and roasted fennel and potato and spicy asian vegetable and smoky tomato and basil showing up weekly on the menu. And if salad and pizza aren’t enough, CoolGreens is also serving up low fat frozen yogurt with flavors like dark chocolate sorbet, mixed berry and original tart. With prices starting at just $2 for the “fit” size (read: small), which includes up to 3 toppings of your choice, its a perfect treat at the perfect price.

There are now five metro locations of CoolGreens including Edmond and Norman locations, some of them with a patio area to enjoy dining outside. (I frequent the Nichols Hills location and love to sit on the patio with GFB and enjoy lunch together.)
